Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 August 2026
The Short Version
We collect your email address only when you actively subscribe or request an email-delivered guide and agree to receive SGroar updates. We do not sell it. You can unsubscribe at any time. Google AdSense may set its own cookies when you visit. That is the substance of it — the rest of this page fills in the details.
Who We Are
SGroar.com ("SGroar", "we", "us") is an independent Singapore commentary and opinion site. For data protection purposes, SGroar is the data controller of personal data collected through this site.

What We Collect and Why
Newsletter subscription
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use it solely to send you SGroar articles and updates. We do not use it for any other purpose.
The legal basis for processing this data is your consent, given when you subscribe.
Email-delivered guides
If you request a guide, we collect your email address to deliver the guide and, where the form states this clearly, to add you to the SGroar email list. The consent checkbox must be selected before the request can be submitted. We record the subscription time and guide category so we can honour your preferences.
Error reports
If you submit an inaccuracy report through our Disclaimer page, you may optionally provide your email address for follow-up. This is voluntary. It is used only to respond to your specific report and is not added to our mailing list.
Cookies and analytics
SGroar uses Google AdSense to carry advertising. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your browsing activity. This is governed by Google's own privacy policy and ad settings, which you can review at adssettings.google.com. We do not have access to, or control over, the data Google collects through its advertising services.
We do not run any additional analytics tools or tracking pixels of our own.
How We Store Your Data
Newsletter subscriber emails are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. Cloudflare's infrastructure is subject to its own privacy and security standards. We do not store payment information — we do not process payments.
We retain subscriber email addresses for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your email is removed from our active list.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell or rent your personal data, or share it with third parties for their own marketing. We use Cloudflare to host subscriber records and Resend to deliver requested guides and SGroar emails. These providers process email addresses only to supply services to SGroar and are subject to their own privacy and security terms.
Google may also process visitor data through AdSense. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Your Rights Under Singapore's PDPA
Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate personal data
- Withdraw consent at any time — for newsletter subscribers, this means unsubscribing
To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@sgroar.com. We will respond within 10 business days.
How to Unsubscribe
Every newsletter we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at contact@sgroar.com with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line and we will remove you promptly.
Children
SGroar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have done so inadvertently, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will note the revision date at the top. Material changes — changes that affect how we use your email address — will be communicated to subscribers before they take effect.
Questions
If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your personal data, write to us at contact@sgroar.com.
